Recent Activities:

Pau Hana at The Shack (Hawai’i Kai)

We’ve shown we can have just as much fun at a Saturday Pau Hana as we do at the traditional Friday ones.  Any time a group meets, eats and shares stories it’s fun!  We had a good turnout, so let’s consider trying it again sometime.

Upcoming Events

Every Monday - TENNIS AT KEEHI LAGOON @ 4:30 p.m.

COME JOIN US AT THE "TASTE OF HONOLULU" ON JUNE 25

Please join Hawaii Ski Club volunteers for delicious food and drink, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, and fun at the 15th annual Taste of Honolulu on Sunday, June 25.

Volunteers who have already registered for this year's Taste of Honolulu should expect a letter from Easter Seals in early June informing us of check-in time.  We have signed up to work the Sunday, June 25th morning shift from 11:00AM until about 4:00PM.

After our shift, volunteers informally gather to eat, socialize, and enjoy the live entertainment. Other Ski Club members are invited to join the volunteers to relax and enjoy the festivities. This informal group will meet near the big black sculpture in the middle of the Honolulu Hale grounds at about 3:30PM and then proceed to the

music stage area.

Bring a cell phone if you want to locate other ski club members in the crowd. Friends and family are invited to join us. Come to party and support the Taste of Honolulu and Easter Seals Hawaii.

June Pau Hana:  Friday, June 16 at 5:30: Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks, Ala Moana Center, Ho’okipa Terrace (4th level)

A day at the mall calls for an escape to “Islands”.  Islands Fine Burgers and Drinks, part of Ala Moana Shopping Center’s recent makeover, is the Hawaii debut of a California chain that dishes up typical American and Mexi-Cali fare. Oversized burgers (a little under 8 ounces each), soft tacos and large salads dominate the menu, countered by a selection of whimsical and invitingly low-priced mixed drinks—a fail-safe formula for drawing hungry shoppers and tourists, if ever there was one.

Since opening its first store in West Los Angeles, Islands has grown to one of the most popular and recognizable restaurants in the Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona markets. Islands offers a number of top quality, cooked-to-order, specialty burgers as well as large salads, soft tacos, chicken sandwiches, appetizers and desserts. Islands strives to set themselves apart from the competition by never compromising when it comes to the quality of the food they serve. All food preparation, such as the peeling and cutting of their famous Island Fries, is done on a daily basis.

Islands is located on the Fourth Level of Ho’okipa Terrace at Ala Moana Center. The restaurant has a 500 square foot covered lanai, which will blend Islands’ unique design, indicative of a beachside tiki hut, with the open air character and South Pacific flair of Ala Moana Center. It also features a full bar that specializes in tropical drinks where guests can watch televisions showcasing the latest in surfing, skiing, biking and other sporting events.

Happy Hour: Mon-Fri, 4pm-7pm ($1-off drinks, half-price appetizers, free chips and salsa) Recommended: Moadilla, tacos, tiki drinks. To contact the restaurant directly call Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks at (808) 943-6670.

Announcements:

Activities:  The board encourages ALL club members to suggest or host different activities.  If there is something that you would like to do, we encourage you to inform a board member or to announce it during the monthly general meeting.  Let us know since there are always special things to do in Honolulu that we can do as a club.

Last Ski Run of 2006:   Whichever club member made the last ski run of the 2006 winter season (northern hemisphere only – New Zealand and Chile don’t count!)  will be awarded a mug, suitably engraved with “Hawaii Ski Club, 2006, Winter, Last Run”.  So far April 20th is the latest date we are aware of, but if you skied after that, please let the editor know.  We hope to present the mug at the July General Membership meeting.

Ski trip information:

Hawaii Ski Week February 2007: Park City, Utah.  Further information will be forthcoming!
