Just returned from Summit County last Sunday, and I can’t wait until next year’s trip to Whistler/Blackcomb. The trip committee has already started planning for the trip, and it’s already looking like it will be one of our biggest trips in a years. Hope you can join us!
The Board has a variety of events planned for Spring and Summer, and I hope to see you all from time to time. For April we have Kayaking and Casino Night in May.
On the shadier side, as of this writing, PTB Travel (Obie) has refused to return our deposit for this year’s trip. Though it was stated in their proposal, PTB has not honored it. The reason I am bringing this up is that it affects all of us. The deposit comes out of our treasury. Hopefully, we can get our monies back, and I hate to settle for anything less. If need be, we will pursue litigation.
Aloha,
Geof
Please attend April's meeting to elect new board members but especially to thank those departing board members who have served you well the past two years: Kathy Mulledy, Carol Wood, and Myra Yamane. What most club members don't realize is that board members spend many hours organizing the ski trips and club activities, completing paperwork, searching the internet for deals, making phone calls, and compiling emails and newsletters. Mahalo Kathy, Carol and Myra for your hard work in making ours a great ski club!!!
!!!! IMPORTANT---URGENT !!!!!
If you are unable to attend April's meeting to vote for new club officers, please email your ballot (last page of this newsletter) to Wandi Sagum Contacts

At Alta, I bought an age 65 season's ticket at the post season price, and paid it off with eleven days' skiing. It snowed just about every other day. Some of my other skiing friends from Hawaii came up for a week on February 17th. We had 14 inches of fresh powder for my last day, Friday, March 2.
Jm Takara: I'm locked in for an Instructor Symposium at Big Sky for the Week ending 15 April.
Jo Yee and family: Big White, Canada

Don't forget to check the home page of our club website at www.hawaiisnowskiclub.com or www.hawaiiskiclub.com for the 2007 Park City group photo. We're sorry that not everyone who went on the Park City trip was included in this group photo (some were taking lessons, meeting elsewhere, etc), but if you look carefully, you'll see Gordon near the back right corner. Funny??? Gordon TOOK this group photo and is also IN the photo. The magic of computers!!! Mahalo, Gordon, for taking this group photo, digitally improving it and getting copies of it to those on the ski trip.
We encourage others with great photos to email them to Anita Contacts We prefer ACTION photos of club members skiing or snowboarding not just posing with a group photo. Any other suggestions to improve our website is appreciated.
As of March 22, 14 people have indicated a strong interest in attending the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta with us. Many of us will leave for Albuquerque on the night of October 4, and will stay for 7 nights. Some of us will continue on to visit the Carlsbad Caverns on October 12, returning back to Albuquerque on October 14 for the flight home. We'll be staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Albuquerque Uptown, an all-suites hotel a block from 3 major shopping centers. We will be sharing the cost of the rooms as well as the rental cars. Besides attending the Balloon Fiesta, the Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Festival, and the Wine Festival, we will be exploring the scenic Turquoise Trail, designated a National Scenic Byway in 2002, on our way to Santa Fe and Taos Pueblo. We are also considering other activities such as hiking through Petroglyph National Park, horseback riding, flying in a hot air balloon, and gliding on the world's longest aerial tramway to the observation deck atop 10,378 Sandia Peak just outside Albuquerque. And speaking of Albuquerque, besides charming Old Town, there are more than 16 museums in the city, ranging from a rattlesnake museum with the world's largest collection of rattlesnakes to the National Atomic Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate Museum of nuclear science and history featuring replicas of the 2 atomic bombs used in WWII, Little Boy and Fat Man. The koalas at the Rio Grande Zoo or the seahorses and luminous jellies at the Albuquerque Aquarium are other sights that some of you might want to experience, not to mention the shopping or the casinos! We'll have a lot of choices to keep ourselves busy during those 6 days! Please join us!
Contributions from the membership to future newsletters are encouraged: Please e mail them to Contacts by the next to last Friday of the month.
