President's Message

One more day to go before we take off for the Big Sky
Country, let's all pray for more snow!

Both of my bags are packed, I'm ready to go, could
hardly wait for tomorrow, I'm leaving on a jet plane,
(does that remind you of a song)? Anyhow, Paul & I are
planning to be @ the airport around 9PM, so for Sam,
Guy & Dennis, no worries, I have your travel documents.

Regarding February general meeting, there is a change
of venue. Yum Yum Tree can not accommodate us on the
3rd, so we're combining the Post Ski Party with the
general meeting at Kathy Mulledy's house on 12FEB,
starting @ 5:30PM.

For those members who are not going this time, there's
always next year, or maybe Lake Tahoe in late February, and we hope to see you @ Kathy's on the 12th.

Other Opportunities for healthy exercise:

The Sierra Club, Hawaii Chapter, has several “outings” (hikes, etc.) on Oahu, and also on neighbor islands.  For further information see their web site at www.hi.sierraclub.org/Oahu/oahu-hikes.htm/

The American Volkssport Association (AVA), Hawaii Chapter (“Menehune Marchers”) sponsors walks (usually 10km/6.2 miles) periodically.  The next scheduled walk is February 21st at 7:00 AM in conjunction with the Great Aloha Run, starting at Aloha Tower.  This is a 13KM/8.15mile event.  You will need to pre-register for the Great Aloha Run separately, and also pre-register for this walk with the Menehune Marchers.  There is also a walk scheduled March 19th on Kauai at Kalaheo.  They also sponsor several year-round walks (7 on Oahu, 2 on the Big Island) which can be done any time at your own pace.  For further information see the AVA web site at www.ava.org or contact Dick Pickens (dick_pickens@yahoo.com).
