Hawaii Ski Association - October 2004
KIA
ORA...that means Greetings! in the Maori language. I'm pleased to
report that all 8 of us: Gordon Ng, Norman Chun, Toby Kravet, Dennis
Nakaoka, George Privon, Patty Cabana, Aileen Galario and yours truly,
participating in the New Zealand Ski Trip late August - 1st week of
September had a blast!
We were treated to the best sowfall they have had in the past 10
years...just awesome skiing. We didn't want to come home. As a matter
of fact, it was still snowing when we left Queenstown. A local
storeowner told me that they'll probably have skiing until
November...long season this year.
Don't miss the general meeting and annual kickoff for the 2005 ski
season at the Waikiki Elks Club on Thursday, October 7th at 6 p.m. An
assortment of pupus will be provided by the club and lots of door
prizes. So, see you all there.

Feedback
Hike
with Humane Society
If you missed the Aiea Loop Trail hike,.....as most of you did,.....you
missed your chance to meet Sandy, Buffy, and Nani. Although awfully
cute, Buffy seemed to be a little high-strung and snappy. On the other
hand, Nani was a real classy lady. Sandy seemed to capture a lot of
Bill Rothe's attention.
This may have been your only chance to meet these three, dog-gonnit,
because they are NOT invited to the Kick-Off meeting! Ask Wandi, Carol,
or Wanda.

KONA BREWING COMPANY/POLO TOURNAMENT -
Sunday, October 17th @ 11 a.m.
Situated on the marina in Hawaii Kai's Koko Marina Shopping Center, The
Kona Brewing Company has the perfect location to savor Hawaii's
wonderful land/water views. We will be meeting here at 11 a.m. for a
leisurely lunch before heading to the polo match. Known for their
scrumptious, hand- tossed pizzas, as well as for their great beers
(their lilikoi wheat ale is a winner!), lunch at the Kona Brewing
Company is an event that you don't want to miss!
After lunch, we'll make our way to the Waimanalo polo field, located
across from Bellows Beach and near McDonald's. This will be the final
event of the polo season and a perfect way to spend a relaxing Sunday
afternoon with good friends! The gate to the polo grounds opens at 1
p.m. and the match begins at 2:30 p.m. The admission fee to this event
is $3 with free parking. There is a comfortable, shaded stadium seating
area to view the polo match and a snack bar for those who still have
the munchies after lunch.

From
the Editor
Thanks
for the many inputs for this newsletter.
I continue to struggle to change the format (larger fonts, more
graphics, etc., but cannot figure it out. Even made a new template, but
it disappeared.
I'm also getting flak about non-delivery to some e-mail addresses. The
common thread connecting those not receiving their e-mail newsletter is
that their address is a business or organization. I theorize that the
server is bouncing the newsletter as junk mail. Also, some to whom I
have sent invitations have never confirmed that they want to get the
newsletter. I'll continue to send newsletters to the addresses
provided.
