President's Message
Off we go into the wild blue yonder flying high into the sky. Look there, it's The Thunderbirds and the view of the air show was magnificent from the Hodges makai lani. I wish more of you could have been at the pool party/ club meeting. It was wet and wild time with raft races for prizes and our host doing a pool slide exhibition. As for me, I would risk the diving board for club announcements anytime. Many thanks to Bill and Anita for opening their beautiful home to our ski club.
Speaking of skiing, anyone waiting to sign up for the trip to Aspen/Snowmass should hurry and get theirs checks into PTB asap. The second installment is due by 9/4. Details are on the sign up sheet. The board members can always use new ideas for events. Please, don't be shy to speak up.I'd like to keep this streak of great events from ending.
With all these things going on you don't want to be left out because of an e-mail problem. Please reply if you get a publisher notice for the ski club newsletter. The idea is to get a reliable posting to all formats. Of course the back up is the hot line at 545-snow.
I'm excited already, we have the Elks club for our ski trip kick off party on 10/3. Anyone wishing to help out with event, please get in touch with me. It's not that I don't have enough fun with the ski club, but I'm going off island till 8/29 and will see you all at Gordon Biersch for the next club meeting. Dave

Gordon Biersch- Get together/ Meeting September 5 5:30
Past expeditions to Gordon Biersch have always gone well. For those of you who haven't been to Aloha Tower in a while the parking is much improved. I have always thought one of the nice thing about living in Hawaii is being able to have drinks or dinner outside while watching the Sunset over the Pacific. So join us at Gordon Birsch. The "meeting" portion of the event will probably start about 7. Hope to see you there.

Horseback Riding- Kualoa Ranch (Sun) Sept 14th Noon
where: Kualoa Ranch, Kaaawa, 237-8515 www.kualoa.com
when: September 14, 2003
time: horses depart 12:45- I suggest you arrive around 12:00
cost: $37.00 for a one hour adventure/sight seeing
if you would like a longer ride you may make arrangements with the ranch
$67.00 2 hrs.
you must be 10 and older and weight 235lb or less.

many people are going to ride.

I under stand it is a lovely ranch so if your other half does not ride why
not bring a good book and relax under a tree.

Honey Ruppel

Pau Hana- September 19 (Fri) Dixie Bar & Grill 5:30 p.m.

In Case You Missed It
Pool Party at the Hodges
Hard to top this one. Great view of the Thunderbirds without nightmare traffic and parking. Hitting the pool. Lots of Good food (enough for a ski club several times our size).
Pau Hana at the Row Bar
The service was a little shaky. Bill Hodges speculated that our waitress may have been suffered some adverse effects in acquiring her various tattoos and piercings. Nice company however and the drink prices at the Row bar are pretty reasonable. (Free refills on Diet Coke)waitress may

Banff and Lake Louise Ski Trip-Feb 24 to March 3, 2004

Thinking about another ski trip for 2004. How about Banff? This ski trip is for the more adventurous as it is not a ski in/out resort. You will need to take a shuttle, drive or catch a ride with someone who has a car.At this time we have 3 cars that can give people rides. The Canadians take good care of there roads so driving is reasonably safe. You will need to get your own airline ticket to Calgary. We have done this trip 3x and have had a great time. There are 3 mountains to ski on and the view and ambiance is INCREDIBLE. At this time I have reserved at the DOUGLAS FIR five 2 bedrooms condo with full kitchens. They also have a giant slide and hot tub to play in. 2 of the condos are taken so 3 are still available. At this time we have 14 people going so we are hoping to get up to 20. If this seems of interest to you call me, Kathy Mulledy
