CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
Additional events, such as concerts, hikes, excursions, may be added. Watch your email for possible updates.
Every Monday evening (except on holidays and, of course, during Hawaii Ski Week): 4:30 P.M. A group of ski club members and their friends play tennis at Keehi Lagoon courts, off Lagoon Drive. Stay in shape and share refreshments afterwards!
April 7 (Thursday), 5:00 P.M. General Membership Meeting and election of our Board of Directors for the coming year at Irons Table and Tavern, Navy-Marine Golf Course Club House.
April 28 (Thursday) Annual Board Dinner/Meeting. Time and place TBA.
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
Within an hour of the close of our last Board Meeting on March 17, Paul and Fergie were off to the airport for a spring ski trip to Tahoe and twenty four hours following our March 25 Pau Hana, Geoff was off to his favorite destination, Mammoth. There's still snow out there for those with the money and the time to take advantage of it. For those who don't, there's always next year, and the Trip Committee is already reviewing proposals from travel agencies for Hawaii Ski Week 2017 at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Whether or not it is (medically) reasonable for me to snap the boards on again, I do plan on joining you all (at Jackson Hole) on the trip next year.
As mentioned in last month's Newsletter and by recent email from Jonathan, Board Elections are upon us again(at the April 7 General Membership Meeting). Board terms are two years except for the President who is year to year, elected by the membership, and automatically becomes a member of the Board upon his/her election. Board offices, i.e. Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary, are selected from and by the Board at the first Board Meeting following the election. This Board Meeting is also a "fancy" dinner for all outgoing and incoming Board Members. Although all four outgoing Board Members have agreed to run again for an additional two year term and I am willing to serve another year as your President, all our seats can be contested. We also have room for an additional Board Member (We can have up to ten, but we have been operating with nine). If you are interested in running, please contact Jonathan: jonathan@hawaiisnowskiclub.com. You can also contact Jonathan to volunteer to serve on next year's Trip Committee.
See you on April 7.

UPCOMING SKI CLUB ACTIVITIES:
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
AND
ANNUAL BOARD
ELECTION
Irons Table and Tavern
Navy-Marine Golf Course Club House
943
Valkenburgh St., Honolulu, Hawaii
April 7, (Thursday) 5:00 P.M.
Come to Irons Table and Tavern for our General Membership Meeting and the election of our Board of Directors for the coming year. If you did not come to last month's meeting nor read the Newsletter, Irons is the name of the new bar and restaurant which has taken over the Sam Sneads/Seven Palms location at the Navy-Marine Golf Course Club House. Although we like to start ordering food and drink around 5:00 P.M., actual Ski Club "business" won't begin until sometime between 5:30 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. If you are on Nimitz Highway under the freeway structure and going in the Pearl Harbor direction, you take a right hand turn onto Valkenburgh and look for the entrance, on your right, to the Golf Course. You can also get to Valkenburgh from Radford Drive off of Salt Lake Blvd: In this case, you would look for the entrance on your left. Hope to see you at Irons on April 7.

PAST SKI CLUB ACTIVITIES:
MARCH 25 PAU HANA
AT
FATBOY'S BISTRO
ALA WAI
GOLF COURSE CLUB HOUSE
Not being a golfer, I hadn't been to the Ala Wai Golf Course since I retired from my job with the City and County's Department of Human Resources: As I recall, I had gone out there, on "business" to watch a golf course groundskeeper move a hole to another position on the green so I could determine the physical requirements of the task: I even tried it myself. This time, however, the purpose was to drink, eat, and socialize with the Ski Club at Fatboy's Bistro. Although nobody was there but me and Geoff at 4:30, members began to trickle in to this eatery, with an ambiance more reflective of cafeteria than club, and by the time we called it an "evening" around 6:30 P.M., the gang had swelled to seventeen (Yeah!). The food wasn't bad, the prices were affordable, and the waitress was very attentive as she only had one other party to service. Geoff predicts that, like Jerry's Pizza in Kalihi, the place won't last, and he seems to be very prescient in these matters. If you're wondering how they move holes on golf courses, ask me in person so I can "do the dance."
